Many people will experience periods in life where maintaining good mental health may be a challenge. By learning the skills to help us navigate these times, we can reduce our risks of developing serious mental health problems, illness and harm.
This 3.5 hour workshop focuses on developing awareness and understanding of our own mental health and wellbeing, so that we can better support ourselves through the challenging times.
Focused on the practical skills and strategies to support healthy thinking patterns, this course aims to build protective factors and promote better mental health for yourself.
This workshop covers topics including:
Understanding mental health as a continuum
Understanding protective factors
Learn how stress affects us short term, long term and how you can improve the way you self manage stress
Risk factors impacting mental health and ways to reduce your risks
Identifying thought patterns and managing your thoughts to influence behaviours and outcomes (cognitive restructuring)
Warning signs you or another person might need support
How to access further resources and professional support
At the end of this uplifting workshop, you will:
Increase your mental health literacy
Gain valuable insights into the benefits of good mental health
Identify personal risk factors
Understand the value of prevention and applying protective factors
Understand how stress can impact on health and how our overall health impacts on mental health
Understand how we can support ourselves through stressful situations by activating our Parasympathetic Nervous System and understand why self-care is so important.
Reflect on strategies that can be applied to improve the way stress is managed
Develop more resourceful thinking patterns, manage emotions and behaviours, reduce risk to self and others
Identify what to do if things are not “OK”
This workshop is aimed at adults, not children or adolescents. Please note that this is not diagnostic therapy, counselling or a treatment session.
