For Raechelle, Helping Others Is Second Nature
For Raechelle, caring for others has never been just a job; it has been a way of life.
As Administration Officer at Seniors Community Care, Raechelle is often one of the first people customers speak to when ordering Manor Meals. Behind every meal order, delivery schedule and customer enquiry is someone who genuinely enjoys helping people and making their day a little easier.
Having joined the team 18 months ago, Raechelle brings more than two decades of experience in aged care and administration, along with a deep understanding of the people Seniors Community Care supports every day.
A Career Built on Care
Before joining Seniors Community Care, Raechelle spent around 20 years working in aged care, holding a variety of administration and operational roles.
Her experience includes helping establish brand-new residential aged care facilities from the ground up. From managing resident admissions and contracts to staff rostering, recruitment and payroll, Raechelle played a key role in ensuring services ran smoothly for both residents and staff.
"I've always worked in roles where I've been helping people," she says.
That commitment to care extends beyond the office. Alongside her role at Seniors Community Care, Raechelle also holds a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) qualification and continues to work hands-on in aged care.
Whether assisting residents at mealtimes, helping them settle in for the evening or simply sharing a conversation, she values the personal connections that come with supporting older people.
"The joy for me in this industry is knowing that I'm helping people," Raechelle says. "That's what I've done for as long as I can remember."
Supporting the Community Every Day
At Seniors Community Care, Raechelle manages Manor Meals orders and helps coordinate the processes that ensure customers receive their meals on time.
It is a role that combines organisation, problem-solving and customer service, skills she has developed throughout her career.
With the recent transition to a new meal provider and the introduction of an updated Manor Meals menu, Raechelle has played an important role in supporting customers through the changes and ensuring the experience has been as smooth as possible.
Her focus remains simple: making sure people feel supported and heard.
Family at the Centre
When she is not at work, Raechelle enjoys spending time with her family.
As part of a busy blended family, she and her husband have raised five children, who are now building lives of their own across Melbourne. While the family home has become a little quieter in recent years, family remains a big part of Raechelle's life.
She also enjoys long walks with her energetic three-year-old Cocker Spaniel, who, according to Raechelle, is happiest when spending time with mum and dad.
A Love of Simple Pleasures
Raechelle describes herself as someone who likes to keep busy.
She enjoys going to the movies, catching up with family and friends, and is considering a return to netball through a local walking netball competition.
A self-confessed tea lover, peppermint tea is her drink of choice, especially during the cooler months.
In fact, winter is her favourite season.
"You can always put another layer on when it's cold," she laughs.
When it comes to food, pasta sits firmly at the top of the list, with her husband's homemade lasagna receiving a special mention.
Living the St John Values
Raechelle's passion for helping others and her commitment to community care are qualities that align closely with the values of St John Ambulance Victoria & Seniors Community Care.
Whether she is assisting a Manor Meals customer over the phone, supporting an older person in an aged care setting or helping colleagues navigate a busy day, Raechelle approaches every interaction with warmth, empathy and professionalism.
Her story showcases that behind every service we provide are dedicated people who care deeply about making a difference in the lives of others.
For Raechelle, that's exactly where she wants to be. Helping people, building connections and supporting the community.
