Volunteers have been the lifeblood of St John Ambulance Victoria since 1883. For well over one hundred years our volunteers have been saving lives and delivering care and compassion to those in sickness, suffering and distress throughout Victoria.
If we aren't currently running a local information session in your area, apply here to register your interest in volunteering and we will reach out when an opportunity is available.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life - we are a reflection of the communities that we serve. We currently have more than 2,200 volunteers who on average treat more than 27,000 patients each year in situations ranging from acute emergency situations through to minor sprains and grazes. We are always looking for enthusiastic, willing and capable people to become part of our rich history of saving lives through First Aid. If you have the time and energy to volunteer we would certainly like to hear from you.

Young people aged 12-17 years can develop First Aid and leadership skills in our youth program, and adults can make a real difference to young people’s lives by volunteering as a leader.
St John Youth Victoria engages young people between the ages of 12-17 years in a First Aid oriented youth program. Youth members participate in regular training sessions, usually on a weekly basis, for up to 2 hours.
First Aid and other relevant skills are developed through age-appropriate activities and training designed and delivered with young people in mind. Service to the community is a fundamental part of St John Youth and youth members are encouraged to attend public events with experienced adult members, including qualified health professionals, to provide First Aid and assistance to the community.
